The online kitchenware brand's new Prep Set includes shears, four blades, five utensils and a modular storage system.

Want to know the shortcut to a beautiful kitchen? Skip the reno and just buy a bunch of Caraway products. The online kitchenware brand sprang onto the scene back in 2019 with a line of non-toxic, non-stick ceramic pots and pans in a range of beautiful colors like Cream, Navy and "Perracotta," with innovative storage solutions intended to keep your kitchen looking not only pretty but tidy.

In the ensuing years, the brand followed up its initial cookware release with matching bakeware, food storage and even a tea kettle. Now, Caraway is aiming to empty your tangled kitchen utensils drawer with a stylish prep set that's meant to be displayed.

The Prep Set includes 10 kitchen tools, split between the colorful style the brand is known for and natural-looking wood. The former group includes a chef's knife, paring knife, prep knife, bread knife and kitchen shears, all of which feature German stainless steel blades with a Rockwell hardness of 58+ and BPA-free handles in your choice of six colors (Cream, Navy, Mint, Charcoal, Gray and, of course, Perracotta). The latter group of tools comprises a spoon, server (spaghetti spoon), spatula, scraper and tongs, all made from FSC-certified birch wood.

As a big part of Caraway's appeal is the brand's innovative approach to storage, the set includes a magnetic modular storage system consisting of a tray and separate organizers for the blades and wooden utensils: the blades fit in a birch wood holder, while the utensils are housed in a holder color-matched to the blade's handles.

With Caraway releasing its first knives, it would make sense for the brand to also launch a surface on which you can safely use those shiny new blades. And that's exactly what the brand has done, releasing its first set of cutting boards concurrently with the Prep Set. There are three cutting board sizes — 17" x 12", 14" x 10" and 10" x 7" — and all are made from FSC-certified birch wood to match the Prep Set's utensils. They also come with their own storage organizer.

The cutting boards seem fine, but they don't feel particularly on-brand. It would have been nice to see some colorful options to match the rest of Caraway's lineup, maybe something akin to Material's popular reBoard, but perhaps that's in the works for the future.

Like other Caraway products, the Prep Set has a middle-of-the-road price tag that certainly isn't cheap but remains considerably more affordable than brands like Made In or Le Creuset. The Prep Set retails for $545, while the Cutting Boards are priced at $245. However, during the launch, both are temporarily priced at a discount, with the Prep Set knocked down to $395 and the Cutting Boards going for $185.
